At OJM Insulations we are committed to investing in and growing our own talent and are happy to have a number of apprentices on our books. Despite the challenges that COVID-19 has brought, we are happy to announce that our new apprentice, Joe Palmer will continue to make great progress on his course. Here are his latest updates in his own words!
Throughout his apprenticeship, Joe will gain the technical knowledge, practical experience and wider skills he needs for his immediate job and future career. The apprentice will gain this through a wide mix of learning in the workplace, formal off-the-job training and the opportunity to practise these new skills in a real work environment.
TICA’s Thermal Insulation Apprenticeships consists of on and off the job training on-site experience being met over four years. During off the job training period, the apprentice will attend the National Training Centre in Darlington for block periods of two weeks to complete their formal qualifications.

“I am currently in the Level 2 TICA apprenticeship scheme standard for commercial thermal insulation technicians. I have been with OJM since November 2021 and have thoroughly enjoyed my time on and off-site learning all sorts of new skills and adapting to various scenarios. My first week on the TICA college side of things was great! I learnt a lot more useful skills and the staff were amazing. I’m definitely looking forward to going back, as well as looking forward to furthering my knowledge for on and off-site practices!”
