Attleborough Biogas Plant

Creating a circular economy Attleborough biogas plant is a groundbreaking initiative in the UK. It takes over 100,000 tonnes of food waste from local businesses and the community and in return supplies biogas for the 4,000 homes and businesses in the town. That’s around 10 megawatts per hour. A truly circular economy and one that can claim to be ‘green’. The plant itself works by taking organic waste and storing it in large digester tanks which are oxygen free. Anaerobic bacteria then go to work in decomposing the material. This process creates methane which can then be purified and used to supply energy.

What we did

Contracted by BioConstruct  (https://www.bioconstruct.com/), OJM Insulations worked to pipe insulation and trace heating for Attleborough.  The first plant at Attleborough is now live and we are working on the next project at Evercreech in Dorset.
